......And remove the dual mass flywheel to enable fitment of a heavy duty clutch and pressure plate. It's never that easy!:001_tongue:

Have you tweaked the injection pump yet ?

Thats the first thing and makes a fair difference. then a bigger intercooler.

I have the 300tdi and am going to be doing the intercooler and fit a variable rate turbo next.

Edit:beaten to it again

Hi all yes my mate was running higher boost pumped opened up larger intercooler to his went well thanks I'm in Scotland not much 3G thanks Jon

To drop a td5 lump in an early defender is a massive job with loads of parts to change over like fuel tank for one, if a defender is already a tdi 200 or 300 turning the pump up is the best option the tdi,s are good engines but if a td5 defender is what you want sell what you have & buy one it would be a lot less hassle & probley cheeper

I have had a td5, great engines, but i have a 200tdi and its what i want! Currently have an isuzu trooper 3.0td, aswell, which is a great engine with loads of go and plenty of speed but im not that keen on japanesse engines in land rovers.

Getting back to the noise of big exhausts i was driving next to my mates 300 with the big exhaust again today, wwhat a noise:)!!

I see a 110 on eBay ages ago with a td nissan patrol lump in it that would of been nice also seen a few yank 6.2 / 6.5 V8 diesel lumps in landys but seems overkill to me and probley just as juicey as petrol V8 to run
