Didn't the makita dcs5000 models also suffer from engine malfunction of similar sorts ?

The PS-5000/DSC5000 was made at the same time as the 5100S (for all markets except the US), but it was rev limited at 13,500 rpm and had a different crank. There were other more minor differences as well (plastic handlebar?).

I haven't heard of a similar amount of issues with those models, but that may just be because I mainly have been on US saw forums?

Not that early, as far as I know - and if so it didn't work too well.

However, the 5105 was supposed to have improved engine cooling over the 5100S - but the trouble continued, at least as long as they were the 14,500 rpm version.

i think the european models had the red coil and usa models had the grey coil then in march 2010 they updated the models to a black coil :thumbup:

You can buy a Dol 5105 as a request from Mak dealer or from Shavey on here. Prefer the genuine red dol myself to the died the wrong colour Mak.

Very good pricing on the 5105 :thumbup1:

yeah, move on from old red hp; it is mineral based, stinks horribly and isn't JASO rated for the latest saws. HP plus is semi and HP ultra full synth but pricey. Dol or Echo Power Blend is the best priced Jaso F-D oil
