Strimmer line?

Use an Oregon Jet Fit head with 4.0mm flexiblade whilst on sparse growth against walls. It is so rigid that you can easily pick grass and weeds away from the stone without touching the wall, so keeping wear to the minimum.

 

The same head will accept 3.0mm flexiblade, or even standard 2.4 round line for a neat finish on grass elsewhere.

 

As an engineer I would warn against keeping the revs down as I have seen many clutches burn out through this practice.

Been using the new duro-cut heads from stihl on our 410's.

I buy stihl green 4mm line and cut my own down.

it takes four lines at a time and eats brambles and brush.

For the lighter stuff i use the stihl square 3mm yellow stuff.

tried all the rest...most was totally useless...some was pretty dangerous.

also you should be careful running brushcutters on low rev.

one sure way to fry your clutch.

your basically riding the clutch when your revving it on the lower end of the revs.

Oh, and remember to store your line, whatever type, in water.

 

It lasts much, much longer.

and dont spill weed killer on it,i wrecked a whole 360 metre spool of line doing this !!

will bear in mind about the low revs, altho my big jonsered only needs half throttle at most even in heavy growth

I have just bought this for my dad. Not used it yet. But impressed with spec and price/value. Its cheaper from same seller through amazon!

Actual product is mospare, made in south africa. I imagine their grass is tough and stalky.

The thinner stuff, sort of. Might have to drill out the locating hole for the end of the line, and ve agressive when bumping from memory.

Never replaced a clutch in ten years of FS410 use, and I shout at my lads if they use more revs than needed. It's a throttle, not an on-off switch. If it's engaged, it's engaged. To 'ride' it, you would need the load to stop the head from turning- and that's not gonna happen with two pissy little bits of strimmer cord!

Hmmm might be better of with the nylium instead then but says flexiblade is rated stronger in the oregon catalogue.
