Forst chipper

I've had one for a while now 185hrs

A few problems:

Drive link for the top roller snapped within 20hrs- redwood came next day & fixed it.

Fuses kept blowing redwood came out & fixed it after a few calls.

A problem with the lights now fixed.

As said before throttle leaver moves & drops revs but after talking to redwood I stuck another 13mm bolt on it and has now solved the problem.

But the biggest problem is the feed rollers jam up with crap really quickly & I have to clean it out twice a day some times.

This but they have not been out to sort it yet. (4 months now)

Apart from the very small problems it's is one of the best 6inch chippers I have ever used & I would say I have owned or used all of them. If I needed to buy another chipper it would be a forst st6!!!

Second pretty much all of this, we've got 2, a tracked and a tow behind both over 100 hrs now. Problems now seem to have been sorted, and redwood have stood by their warrant so far.

That "so far" sounds a bit ominous.

 

I don't get the opportunity to work them for long periods but the trash build up opening the rollers is aproblem I hope it gets sorted soon with a recall but I hear the workshop is flat out so this may take a while.

 

My gripe with the tracked one is the lack of tie downs, GM 1928 is an example of good ones.

'to date' may be a better phrase. The crap build up jamming the rollers open is a pain and a half.

On our work there often is no big stuff to put through. I'd like to experiment more but the firm I do work for is down one forst and the other is in high demand. No one wants to take the Jensens out now because the rollers don't feed that well now, they were old when I started so I'm not sure if its design or wear and tear.

Spoke to redwood today &

They are trying to get the machines in to get the problem fixed they are flat out! but it means a 7 hour round trip to take it back to there workshops

That's what I suggested but the fitter says they are too worn and being hollow are bowed??

 

Anyway apart from this the Jensens are still good. I wonder if more aggressive rollers could be fabricated.
