If it knackered why waste the time, just cut it off and get the new one on would be my advice.

Yeah I agree but I would be a little worried about scoring or cutting into the shaft . Mind you it's a fair call , it's ok if you have a workshop and kitted out with everything u need . I have to say owning bigger kit and being all the way down in cornwall has taught me to do more my self :001_smile:

Had a few hours the weekend so fetched the top roller and shaft off. Got the bolts out but the roller is solid. Bearing in the "block" have definately had it. Got a 10 tonne press which hasnt managed to move it, any ideas? Whats the worst case cost of new shaft, roller and block?

Now what is the phrase used I keep hearing ?..

O YEH! Contact your local dealer

Well that's as much help as ...

Heal pry bars are a good tool for this job!

Angle grinders are also a good tool with caution (minor scaring won't do any harm just polish it up with emery tape before fitting the new bearing)

If you don't use the local dealer, they will dissappear. Then who will you turn to when you need help? Rely on a man in a van to drive half the length of the country at your expense? Pay for a mornings labour while he sits on his backside? Or just think of the bargain you had when some sales guy promised this, that and the other only for you to find out that it wasn't covered by warranty? or you have to buy the part, fit it yourself and then try to claim the cost of the part back?

If you use a local tradesman, he will look after you as he wants your business!
