Fuel Cards???

Anyone running 6 petrol[b/]vehicles for tree work needs their head examining!

 

Why shouldn't a company run 6 vehicles. We have 9 and this is set to rise.

 

How many of your trucks are petrol engined?

A company that I used to work for had a credit card account with multiple cards. They then issued every foreman and manager with a card. It didn't matter which fuel station that people needed to stop at and if something cropped up where one of the teams needed to pick something up from a builders merchant that we didn't have an account with or something like that it wasn't a problem.

Of course you need to be able to have absolute trust in your staff to go down this route.

Yup. Busted. Didn't see the petrol bit.

 

We have company credit cards. They're handy, though the £5k spend limit wouldn't come close to covering the fuel and sundry extras. They're not actually credit cards, they're a hybrid between a credit and debit.

It's so much easier, if at times more expensive, to manage fuel separately using fuel cards. The petrol we have to use the credit card and buy using jerry cans. Don't want too much petrol kicking around the place.

D you have problems with them jacking the price up?

I have one for bp and one with shell. That way I can fill up easily on the motorway and save nearly 15p a litre. Currently paying £1.09 ppl + vat . If one starts jacking the price I give them a little rest. Dont buy petrol on these cards costs a bomb and only use the bunkering stations other wise it will be £1.60 a litre. All stations on the motorway are bunkers.

if you have morrisons or Tesco nearby we use their card fuel genie same price as the pump which is always cheaper than our other cards (we only keep those now for motorway fillups)

I use fuel genie, there is always a tesco near and makes accounting a lot easier not having to save loads of bits of paper.

If you don't want a fuel card it could work if you use a shell card?
