Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

My list of options seems to be growing but I'd have felt daft if you'd all said the same thing!

In reply to a few of the points -

I have a feeling a Husky 365 would be a bit big as my only saw but if i could find a secondhand one to convert it would make a great second saw.

I hadn't included Shindaiwa / Jonsered / Dolmar as I'm not sure I have a local dealer. I like to support my local shops if I can and there is a lot to be said for being able to pop in to collect spares.

My local Makita dealer is a fantastic tool shop but they probably don't sell many chainsaws.

So after reading all of that what would you all recommend?

My current list is:

Echo: CS450, CS550

Husky: 455R, 550XP

Makita: DCS5121

Stihl: 261

I generally over spec stuff so I’ve got no objections to lower spec suggestions if I’m aiming a bit high! Secondhard would be ok with me within reason but I don't fancy an ebay gamble.

Many thanks

Stuart

From that list, obviously the 550xp. :001_smile:

However, it isn't a semi-pro, but a pure pro saw.

for the amount of use you are going to use it look at mitox. lot less money 2 year warrenty as a home user. get two for the price of a husky or sthil.

not on comision everyone :biggrin:just hear good reports about them from users who use them a lot

I came across a mitox yesterday and it was rubbish. I'm not loyal to one brand but i wouldn't consider one now.
