After getting sued by a cyclist last year I thought I'd look up to see if anyone who got injured by a cyclist could return the favour.

Most cyclists are covered on their household insurance as a leisure activity, but it becomes a bit more dubious when they are cycling as a profession or sport.

I am wanting to petition to make it a legal requirement for cyclist to ensure they are covered by their household insurance and if not to get it added or buy a stand alone policy.

I shoot as a sport and have to buy cover ( although some household insurances even cover you for shooting ) I just want to make sure that if I get hit buy a cyclist and injured, I can also claim

There are loads of claim happy people who have realised councils etc pay out £1000's to save the hassle

I inspected car reported as "damaged by fencing contractor working for council"

Car was scrap and had sat on owners drive for years, they bounced it couple of feet sideways to give him a brand new fence , yes they had damaged some corroded out wings, but this hadn't reduced the value of the car , as it was still scrap....

Cheeky ba$$$$rd try on .......

So many cyclists are a law unto themselves. I never think its a good idea for a cyclist to be sharing the same strip of tarmac as 2 tons on speeding metal. When you hear of accidents the courts always seem to side with the cyclist when its often unjust.

Signed.

I've seen cyclists knock people over and just carry on. Also seen them hit cars and get up look around and just ride off.

Ins is needed for everything else so why not cyclists.

So your saying that when you take your kids out on a family cycle ride, you and your children should have insurance? Absolutely ridiculous.

Yes. You wouldn't take you kids out down the beach in the car with no ins? Would you?
