Hedgesparrow I'm led to believe we pay around £53 million a day to belong to this " club " the sooner we're out the better

We could do mega amounts with this money

Now our payments to the EU hit £53m each day | World | News | Daily Express

My take on EU money:

There are simply so many conflicting, biased and misleading statistics and reports out there that ordinary peasants like us can't possibly know whether we get more out or less out than we put in.

Even if we do "know" whether we net lose or net gain, the actual figure doesn't matter.

If we are losing money, we need to ask ourselves whether we are getting something in return (are we benefiting enough from free movement of goods, people etc?).

If we are winning money, I say we're not really. All member states pay in hard fvcking cash, nice lump sums. The important factor is not what we get out, it's how we get it out. Spain gets out nice big lumps of cash and builds roads with it. The UK gets out thousands of thin streams of funding for cretinous social projects and other bullshit. The money is spread so thinly that it practically evaporates.

I don't know which sources to believe. The UK is probably utting in about £8Bn a year and getting out £4Bn. But as someone has just said earlier it's about net expenditure c/w benefits. Like if you say I pay National Insuarance contributions every year but I only get free prescriptions worth £xx. It's an insurance policy and a return on intangible and other benefits.

I'm kind of resigned now to England dragging the UK out of the EU. A nation of shopkeepers, it has been said. Never did know how to get on with the rest of the world.

Its the laws/regulations that come out that have crippled this country as much as the direct financial cost of membership, consecutive UK governments have bent over and swallowed nigh on every piece of legislation churned out by Brussels while the rest of europe ignores them putting us at a massive disadvantage with regard to business and trading competetively outside of the U

K before we start.

A mate reckons bankers want us out of europe

His reasoning is they have got away with being crooks AND been bailed out by us and that they are now planning the BIG ONE , and need to be free of europe to do it

Ie they are gearing up to rob us of £100's billions

Sounds like crap, but think about it ....

Crooks don't stop if you let them off, they just get greedier

On those grounds I'm for europe ......

The article below pretty much sums up my experience of trading across Europe - every advantage gained is outweighed by the sea of regulation. Of course the fact uk gold plates all this crap and other countries ignore it is another argument, bear in mind too we take on an army of bureaucrats to ensure businesses comply with all the legislation so is a double whammy.

I haven't met anybody, who thinks its a good idea to stay in the EU in its present form...where do they get their facts and figures from...and why don't our MP's listen to their own people?.....big change coming...if we don't get dragged into an EU war first...:(
