Anyone use an AGT 835 for skidding? or Forwarding

Recommended Posts

Been thinking about investing in an alpine for use in the woods among other things and was wondering if anybody on hear uses the AGT 835? if so what are the pros and cons? what size winch and how much can it comfortably skid. some pics of them working would be good? also what other options are there at the same sort of size . cheers Tom

I have an AGT835 and have been using it to skid 60 year old beech out of a woodland.

I was using a simple frame attached to the 3 point and was pulling them out one at a time but I was amazed at what it would pull.

I did try hooking it up to an Igland 3601 winch I picked up but the geometry was not great as it sat too close in to the tractor for the PTO shaft. I have since invested in a Uniforest 3.5 winch as it has an offset PTO meaning more room for the shaft.

Drop me a PM if you like and I will try and answer any questions.

please share the ins and outs of agt ownership on this thread. there is not much info about them, but they look like a lot of machine for the money (compared to the italian offerings).

pics would be good:001_smile:

I have the AGT850, bigger brother at 48hp. Reversible drive with syncro box. Still small enough to get into tight spots. I cannot believe how stable these things are on steep ground and lots of grunt.

I have a little carraro myself but know two other local woodmen with smaller AGT's. Both use them with a forwarding trailer, one has a 3 ton standard timber trailer with crane, the other uses a Riko fast tow. Both of them are very experienced and both love their AGT's!

The excellent traction and weight distribution makes them surprisingly capable for their size and horsepower.

We are in Suffolk so a bit far for you to come and have a look but I'll try and rustle up some pictures for you.
