Im 44, but i keep getting reminded(by her indoors)that im too bloody old to be climbing trees lol.

Ive been taking on tree jobs and hiring in freelance climbers.

Its someting thats always interested me(climbing/arboriculture)and im seriously thinking

of getting my tickets.

Just dont want to be laughed off campus when i turn up and the course is full of hooded youths:)

Ive been doing a bit of climbing but know i really should be getting some training.

had a bit of a scare last week.gaffed out up top of a sycamore we were taking down and it scared the sh** right out of me.

my lines that night.........I AM NOT A CLIMBING ARBORIST

I AM NOT A CLIMBING ARBORIST

I AM NOT A CLIMBING ARBORIST :)

Depends how old you feel on the day :laugh1:. A fit 60yr old would run rings around an overweight 20yr old so really it's just a question of fitness.

Thats a rare pleasure to see, especially when the young un is all mouth and ego.

climbed with a guy couple of years back on some contract work...He was 58 and the best climber on the team, no ego just good old fashioned skill.

If i,m still as good as that when I'm 58 will be happy with that.

Cheers Matty :thumbup1:

I,m 50 in one months time and I can get up a tree, get out to the tips, and bring it down fast and efficiently.

I get sometimes get frustrated when on the ground watching other climbers taking three times longer than it should take.

Climbing isn't about speed, it's about efficiency, efficient climbing and cutting can be extremely fast

How old is too old to start climbing?

dare not even mention my age now lol.

I run a small landscape firm and thinking of 'branching out':001_smile:

You are never to old but we are all running out of time. If your goal is to do your own bits of in house climbing then go for it.

If your goal is to become a first rate climber, do you have the time to gain the experience needed?
