It's surprising how tight the bolts have to be though, ie nowhere near as tight as you would think.

It says they are just 60nm, I think over tightening is mentioned as the thing to avoid?

My Jensen blades have to be 310NM, now that is tight. I whizz down the local garage and he nips them up for me. As for a decent torque wrench that go's this high is £150 plus.

Blimey that's a big difference to TM ones, think I'd better check where I read the 60nm!

Just to add my opinion, you get what you pay for. If you only need to torque a few bolts occasionally to a torqueish then any of the torque wrenches mentioned will be alright. I spent best part of £400 on an electronic torque angle wrench, but then i use mine everyday.

Less than six months, we have to get all our gear recaliberated regularly to keep up warranty status on our work. Having said that these electronic torque wrenches never seem to go out of adjustment

I picked up a socket kit set from Halfords the other day.

It's done a spectacular job so far...

My old man used to work on the road as an engineer and he never buys anything but Halfords professional range. Best to get tools that you can trust?

halfords professional range are excellnt quality tools, plus a lifetime warranty, and a bonus...get yourself a halfords trade card and get a big discount on them, plus very good prices on consumables for your plant and vehicles( dont tell everybody about this...lol..)

Halfords Professional are OK, I have a ratchet. But with sockets and things you will loose, I never spend any more than £2.50. Silverline or Neilson are good, never broke one yet and I'm an animal.

 

Draper is overpriced crap aimed at farmers with blank cheque books.
