Tyre help

Have a Nissan Navara, and need to replace the tyres.

Will be working off tracks, through fields, green lanes, over open moorland and the like so will have to be all terrain.

Current set (what I brought it with) are 16", and the manual states to use 16 or 17's - have people gone with anything bigger or better to stick to the book.

Also what sets do people use: new or reclaimed? and specific brands that are good everywhere?

The newer machines have 17" rims; my 57 plate had 16". My set of BFG ATs have lasted 45,000 miles so far and have loads left yet.

The vehicle's on a 4-year lease and the plan is for one set of tyres @£1000 supplied and fitted to last the term of that lease.

Second all the above. BF Goodrich Mud terrains (MTs) are a bit agressive for day to day road use but when you need them on a wet field you'll be thankful. Even the newest ATs can have difficulty on muddy grass.

General Grabber are a good second choice if the BFGs are to £££.

As for size, there's something to be said for staying on the 16'' wheels and getting a bigger aspect ratio on the tyres, particularly if you plan on deflating them or they're going to take a hammering over rough forestry and tree stumps etc. If you want a bit more responsiveness on road go with a bigger rim and smaller aspect ratio.
