That's the 1, hate too think what that would cost, bigger tracks, crane, winch, turntable, remote control. For that I'd bet you could get a tractor farmi chipper and 2nd hand 3pl crane.

That Jenson looks great, but needs a much bigger engine IMO. Has there ever been a slower chipper...?!

In reality, I would imagine adding a crane to a 'regular' tracked chipper (ie one that can be towed to site on a normal plant trailer behind a non LGV) would make it too heavy to be of use. A decent small crane set up is going to weigh at least 500kg - this has to be added to the basic weight of the chipper (in the 1928 case allow 2 tonnes - other similar spec machines are in the same ballpark). You are then getting close to what is legally towable weight wise. On top of this you need to ensure the base machine is strong enough for the additional (considerable) forces that a crane will apply - a forestry crane drags timber in from all directions, and applies pressure from every angle through the carrier. It is unlikely that an off the shelf small chipper will be manufactured in such a way as to withstand these forces, so it will need beefing up (adding more weight). You would subsequently end up with a tracked machine that would not be towable under the 3.5 tonne regs - if that is the case you may as well get a BIG chipper in that warrants the crane and is alot more productive.

I asked Greenmech last year at an open day if they could build me forwarder type machine based on 1928 chassis . It would have smaller engine and have crane operation from where you drive machine now, the plus side being you could get it wherever you get a chipper and remove timber or crane feed chipper. Tony Turner was very interested in the concept unfortunately I've not had any further meeting with him owing for various reasons , i'll ring him and take it forward keep you all informed
