£160k a year and living in a council flat - true socialist.

He didn't live in a council flat, he lived in a housing association house. He fought tooth and nail for the people he represented and got them some decent wages and working conditions, what's not socialist about that, I reckon anyone in the RMT would say he was cracking value

Except any true Socialist would not be robbing Peter (virtually at gunpoint) to overpay Paul.

Seriously.

So if any group of people/workers club together, pay their dues, elect a great leader and gain a stranglehold on a particular trade.

They are then fully and properly entitled to hold the country to ransom.

PS

The Army should try that one.

But

Oops that would than be a Dictatorship,( but only if right wing led.)

regards,

Marcus

Its a tax payer subsidised house, which is what council houses are.

I love how people praise him for doing his job, I think the £150K probably helped

Housing Association houses or council housing is not subsidised by the taxpayer. All the loans taken out , normally over a 60 year period are paid back through the rents. The councils aren't allowed to cross subsidise public housing through other revenue streams. Thatcher stopped all that many years ago in the 1989 Housing Act which also allowed you to buy your council house. The revenues from which went back to the government instead of to the council which would have allowed them to build more houses - and that's when council house waiting lists exploded overnight! But don't get me started......
