Feather edge fence post spacing?

Hiya,

I do a fair amount of fencing, usually "Hit and Miss" style. I have a 6ft Feather Edge fence to do and was looking online and some people say that you can have a 2.4m post spacing? I usually go for 1.8m for "Hit and Miss", but I use 6x1 boards so I spose they are alot heavier. I use 4"x4" posts. Just wondered what post spacing you all use for feather adge fences?

Always used 1.8m on 4x4, did try 3x3 years back but didn't think it was really up to it.

Don't think I'd want to go to 2.4m, might be just about OK in a really sheltered position with no kids ever swinging off it etc etc.but wouldn't want to take the chance myself.
