We have no problem selling softwood to our customers, you are right, get them educated then they often find they prefer it! it is easier to work with on every level, and not that much cheaper now than hardwood. We have soft, hard and mixed loads to sell, and the softwood is by far the most popular for wood burners, this winter the price (it is cheaper) has made a big difference, and some 'mixed load' customers have changed to softwood.

I think your onto some thing there. I'm going to have to try to educate some of our log customers. There is only so much pine and Mac I can burn at home :thumbup1:

A reliable supply of wood has been a growing concern since I took over family business,i have been currently planting our dormant farmland up with a rotation of hazel and willow coppice with some standards and a complete section of softwood and conifers.I realized a nice steady coppice would be the quickest and most reliable form of wood I would find that didn't cost the earth.I also use an awful lot of slabwood, and I struggle keeping it in stock as I offer it as an economy option to standard softwood logs and sells like hot cakes.
