What's the going rate for spray application weed control using glyphosate herbicide around newly planted trees dispensed by knapsack sprayer?

I'd be interested too. Just borrowed a knapsack and glyphosate as a favour. I do have Pa 1 &6 but never used it for myself before. I charged £30 for about 400 metres. Not measured.

Im more interested in the planting afterwards, so not too bothered if I was underpriced.

How can there be a going rate, if weed / grass size varies, or area of coverage?

 

I don't think rate matters. It's a matter of providing an estimate.

where the tree is in a plastic tube, it can be achieved without any danger to the tree.

You could probably pick up a good sprayer and glyphosate of ebay or from your nearest country store. Then just follow what it says on the tin and repeat the following seasons. its not difficult

I've got all the kit & tickets just curious what rate, if any, people apply to spraying around trees. I've always priced in the usual way labour, equipment, chemical used etc

Think you should invent your own price.

 

If weeds were 10mm short, I would be looking at a vastly different situation from 1 meter tall weeds.

 

Completely different amount of product used and time for coverage. That's why I think the question can't be answered accurately or practically.

 

RE the hurting the tree comment posted earlier ...

 

I've seen people who do "organic" landscaping kill trees or have trees die. And in 30 years, spraying around thousands of trees on hundreds of acres, I don't recall one tree loss. And I'm talking centimeter tall trees on up to 50 meter tall trees.

 

If done right, the amount of active ingredient is small, it's inconsequential compared to pollutants blowing in from other yards, cities, highways, industrial areas, etc..
