Im looking at doing some more training so to speak. was thinking about a cscs card for work on building sites i did have 1 years ago for an operative when i did building work but ive just looked on cscs and they are saying for tree climbing/chainsaw work i should turn to BALI is this the same as cscs?

You currently have to complete the 1 day ROLO course and the LISS touch screen test to apply to get a card this card will vary in colour depending on your trade. Unfortunately this is unavoidable to the new rules and regulations on site. This card is valid for 5 years. The cost of the can vary I advise you to look at the website Alpha Safety Training Provider South Wales - Safety Training Courses South Wales. | Alpha Safety Training

I agree 100%, its very rare we get asked for anything else these days.

We are going through all this shizzle now. did the 1 day rolo training last week "load of bollocks"! got to book the cscs touch screen now.

What was the role course test like Simon? Passed my managers cscs card this morning and with a couple of nights and 2 hours revision this morning I breezed through it.

Hello Everyone,

The issue of CSCS and ROLO etc is pretty confusing.

I took the CITB general "Health, Safety and Environment" computer test a couple of days ago. I passed. I am not really sure what to do next.

I know that the official route is to now take the ROLO test to get the blue "Skilled Operative" card, but it seems like a very expensive test/card!

I can see that some of you have been using the standard Green "operative" CSCS card. Are most sites still OK with this card? Even for climbers etc?

I am newly qualified up to CS30/31. Would this mean that I would officially have to apply for the Blue card?

Any advice will be gratefully received.

Mitch

I think the rules on cscs changed last year, so you probably know more than I do about it!:001_rolleyes:

I don't do much work on construction sites any more but I was on a big Kier construction site last week. I only have the green card, when we were inducted Kier's induction bloke was happy that we could prove competency with other training tickets and the job went ahead.

I'm not in the tree industry mind.

Your NPTC tickets are the benchmarks for treework - just get the most basic (ie cheapest) CSCS card you can find as this will almost definitely be asked for before most site managers even entertain looking at your actual real qualifications. IME as long as you have a plastic CSCS card of any colour with your photo the box is ticked and you're allowed on site.
