where did i go wrong

hi all just venting my frustration tonite priced a large windblow 40+ hardwood trees on local estate met the land agent who asked all relevent questions insurance time scale what machinary we use references and experience.drove past today saw two lads with chainsaws throwing timber in a small car drawn trailer thought they were chancers stealing the wood so i challanged them they had the contract and not even a pair of earmuffs between them. why do we invest so heaverly in training and equipment

in one weekend ive seen that, council carpenters with tennen saws, log merchants et al, just realise any one can risk their staffs life, but a gentleman protects their staff

 

and breath out

I believe you did nothing wrong. The agent representing the owner of the property did a disservice by not hiring you in the first place and than to add insult to injury, possibly in more ways than one hired another company without letting you know.

The pety actions of "window shoppers" or other types of decision makers can be frustrating. Maintain your standards and understand that the law of averages will kick in sooner or later. When something happens to the other companies out there it happens for a number of bad reasons. Stay on the straight and narrow, continue to discuss and seek solutions on AT. You are not alone.

You are clearly not competing on a level playing field, perhaps the HSE would be interested in helping the contractor to become more compliant?
