Conflicting advice about coppicing alder

Recommended Posts

Being a relatively short lived species am thinking coppicing may be useful to prolong  life.

Noticed several  stands of not very old alder that have died or fell over when they have  looked  about 40-50yrs old at most

But maybe locally North Wales isn't  the best climate for them to get huge/old..

Anyone see very large diameter older trees ?
