Interesting job, did you have to do a bat inspection before work?

 

Ever mindful for the potential of bat habitat (partly the reason for retention of this tree) no full inspection was carried beyond the ongoing visual assessment of cavities and cracks as the canopy was dismantled.

I have always wondered how difficult it would be to remove the bats as you said the cracks close on removal of the weight. Those teupen are the best tracked mewp going i reckon, nice to not have to climb dodgy trees

If its to be retained for habitat then wedge the cracks with little blocks of hardwood before removing the weight,

Under health and saftey regs to use a MEWP with CHAINSAW you have to have rope and harness ticket.

To use a chainsaw from a MEWP you should hold what is now called CS0974 - operation of a chainsaw from a MEWP , CS39 is not seen as appropriate training to operate a Chainsaw in a MEWP

I was under the impression that a MEWP operators cert and CS 39 & 41 were considered satisfactory training.

 

You are not supposed to use a top handled saw from a MEWP with cs47.

There has been a massive change in the NPTC units and because NPTC are now a part of City&Guilds the unit titles (CS3,31,32,34 etc etc) have now changed to fall inline with the rest of City&Guilds . This should all become apparent to the industry workers after Christmas .

 

Because there is a specific unit qualification for using a chainsaw in a MEWP then it is expected that persons carrying out such an activity should hold that certificate of competence

in short - Nope

 

Would 1000 hours of driving an artic lorry entitle you to drive one and for your insurance to be valid lol
