That House is near petworth west sussex. The house is only part of what that guy is doing. Making a nice living at £500 for a eco course and £50 for a walk round the woods and visit the house.

I think he has got it right in life, out of the rat race but making money from his hard work. Good on him I say.

MORE than nice lifestyle, i'd say, and from what i saw on GD, he seems to have a good set of ethics. His house is still ugly though.

Taking about building house's in woodlands, iirc if you manage a woodland and also do a bit of charcoal making and/or hazel coppicing arent you allowed to build a house there to stay in?

 

Prob got nothing to do with this thread and I dont have any woodland to manage but just remembered it and was wondering if anyone thought the same.

i think its the same as an agricultural clause, as long as you are there working the land you can stay:001_smile:

Yeah its basically the bottom line, but I understand that in reality the powers that be frown on any sort of woodland dwelling, and it is unfortunately pretty difficult to persuade them that you have strong reasons to stay and not commute. Ben Law had been living in Prickly Nut Wood coppicing, charcoaling and making furnitue in rudimenatry conditions for years and fighting the planners pretty much all the time, hence conditions such as not allowing the house to remain after he is gone.
