Driving aroung my perimeter this morning, I had the fortune to catch a glimps of this little oddity.

Aesculus carnea branch flowering on Aesculus hippocastanum.

Perhaps someone was having a Willy Wonka moment with a grafting knife :001_smile:

Anyone else got any shots of dual flowering oddities?

For the Deans of this world, that's a red horsechestnut branch growing on a normal horsechestnut branch :001_smile:

That little gem of wisdom has literally knocked me for six.

If all else fails, and the world finishes tommorow.................at least "the talk" finally got the infamous Mr Lofthouse to do da Latin :sneaky2:

Where i used to live in Yorkshire there was a line of Horse chestnuts like that, they had more carnea than the one you saw monkey. I suspect originaly they were 50/50 but the hippocastaneum was more vigorous. If I remember rightly they were near Cherry Burton, perhaps if one of our east yorkshire members is passing that way they could take a pic.:001_smile:
