With regards to the thread relating to the shortage of firewood, I bet all those people that invested their money into woodlands 10-20 years ago are having a good old giggle with the amount of money they are make from selling the wood these days.

Anyone on here reaping the benefits?

Not really we have 100ha MC/MB, After harvesting and haulage your looking at about £4-£7 per tonne for Conifer Small Roundwood good lot more for sawlog material but then you have restocking costs.

If it was that profitable you wouldn't have to rely on the grants.

lots of people are investing for non timber benefits, Inheritance Tax, Sporting and increasing value of the land its self

The last lot went to the following markets:

Spruce = Green Sawlogs/ Pallet/ Export Chip

Larch/Douglas = Red Sawlogs/ Fencing/Pallet/ Export Chip

Rot Affected material went to local Biomass that was about 20% of the total tonnage

The Chip was exported to Brussels from Perth, Scotland

That's some nice quality spruce you have then county 764.
