I just take multiple sharp chains out with me. Saves time and stopping to sharpen in the rain is quite unpleasant.

 

This is also my preferred approach. It's amazing how much easier it is to sharpen accurately in a heated workshop, with a good light over the chain, some good tunes, a coffee to one side and dinner cooking on the stove :thumbup1:

 

As opposed to on the floor in the mud with the water soaking into your chainsaw trousers.:thumbdown:

I never remove a chain until its dead, with practice you will soon find you can get a chain razor sharp in less time than it takes to fit a another chain.

 

Interesting. Presumably you don't ever check, dress, clean or turn over your guide bar? Is that just stuff they teach on CS30 that isn't necessary then?
