Spud, are you talking about oversize piston kit?

This isn't what I had in mind and wasn't aware there was such.

Your original post was to convert a 365 x-torque over to being a 372 x-torque.

To do this you would need the Cylinder and piston (around £325), possibly a carb and other parts!

If you were looking at converting it to a 372XP, you would need a suitable piston and cylinder kit - OEM or aftermarket, the carb, inlet manifold and air filter manifold and possibly other parts.

I am not sure how this can be done for near to nothing:confused1:

The bottom ends appear to be the same on all these saws (the IPLs will confirm this) but the top end and fuel delivery are completely different as the x-torque separates the air from fuel/air vapour to feed the strato transfers via the piston ports!

thought it was just a matter of the transfer port covers on the 365xt have a restrictor in them. Remove the covers and grind out the restrictor and you got yourself an inexpensive 372xt?

Thats how I read it but could be wrong ...

Yeah Spud the new x-torque motors are the same between the 365 and 372 there is no bore size difference and carbs/inlets are the same.

They are both the same cc however the only difference in the entire saw is the 365 they have added some fins on the inside of the transfer cover plates to restrict flow a bit. That's the only difference.

I was thinking it was a different piston and cylinder between models like the earlier 365 ND 372XP.

Looks like they got lazy with the design!

No its exactly the same unlike the earlier models.

Guess its saves them needing another parts shelf for a 365 apart from transfer covers and decals, and most likely run it down the same production line to save cost.

Yet buy a 372 and you pay £130 extra :confused1:

It's even worse than that. It's marketing.

For some odd reason, there is a market for a mid range 70ish CC saw that doesn't cost what a pro 70cc saw does. I blame poor bastards like myself - one of my favourite things to do is turn 365's into 372's or 375's or 377's. So, Husky took their 372 XTorq and designed it to run a lower RPM, put a new sticker on it, and transfer port covers (A La Shindaiwa style), and sell it as a 365 VS 372.

You CAN replace the P&C if you like. In this case, you can retain the carb and modify the intake. The XT carb is capable of more fuel and air than even what came with the 390 xp's. So this is often what some porters use on 390's if they want the thing to pull a huge bar in the PNW, let alone 372's.

Having said all that, I haven't so much as hefted a 365xt. ;) All I know is from perusing AS. I imagine, sooner or later, one will find itself in front of me. I'll post what train wreck happens then.

I`m looking forward to this thread as I bought a 365xt with 20" bar on the recommendations of the good folks here and I love it but wouldn`t mind a bit more performance in thicker stuff . I think I read somewhere the air filter might be upgraded on the 372 - I guess the carb will need adjusting after the transfers mod as well ? . Will you be doing other mods too , 18 stoner ? .
