I worked in warranty for 15 years

He's talking bo**ocks

If manufacturer knew what damage he's doing to their reputation they'd probably sack him

Yes repairers get lower rate for warranty work, but they agree the contract with manufacturer ..........

Grass him up to manufacturer ......

Grass him up! Bit strong don't ya think?

This is not customers problem

Its manufacturers ........

Let them sort it out

Grass him up ........

How would you feel if you had quote out

And behind your back your lad told customer " but we'll charge you extra to clear stuff up"

So you'd be constantly losing jobs and not knowing why

How long would you keep the lad after you found out what he'd been doing ?

european law...manufacturers waranty must be honored by any dealer, irespective of where the product was purchased... if a local dealer will not carry this out , shop him and see his dealership removed, why should we, the punter be screwed in this day and age

Not quite true.

The contract of sale is between the customer and the suppyling dealer. It is the dealers responsibilty to repair it and get reimbursed from the manufacturer.

Some manufacturers insist that their dealers repair any of their product, even if they did not sell it.

But some manufacturers state that the selling dealer assume sole responsibility and must not imply that any other dealer will repair carry out warranty work.

I am a small independant specialist dealer and will only take on warranty work on goods I have sold, unless I choose otherwise.

Why should I clear up someone elses mess?

In the stove industry the seller of the stove is responsible for all warranty issues with it not the local dealer in whose area some web based grey importer has sold it into.

At least one well known brand has now stopped totally all supplies to anyone selling on line and only offers warranty support on products sold through its UK distribution outlet.

Grey imports are down to the seller only.

Its a fair chance the saw manufacturer is well aware of what this dealer is doing and quietly supports it. Personally I would go further and advise that ANY warranty issues on products supplied by others will not under any circumstances be entertained and they need to go back through point of sale only. I don't have these issues but if I did I would not get paid to sort them out.
