... Klein Pole climbing spikes, and tree climbing spikes???

 

Saw on another thread, someone mention NOT to get pole if using on trees??? Just want confirmation before making an expensive mistake...

Yes but its a PITA, better to look out for a second pair of spikes

 

Not necessarily a pain, depends what sort of spikes you buy. On the geckos its just a matter of 2 bolts. Not sure how the kleins attach.

 

In short...yes you can replace them...but def go with the pole gaffs. I think in 15 years i've needed tree gaffs maybe 3 or 4 times, but got by without them anyway

Pole gaffs are what you want, unless you are climbing very thick barked trees, and by that i'm referring to the likes of redwoods, gnarly old pines etc.

 

 

:thumbup1: As confusing as it sounds you want pole gaffs, tree gaffs are very long and from memory the spike is on a different angle - you wont need them in this country 99% of the time.

I changed over to tree gaffs for a wellingtonia takedown and never changed back. I much prefer the longer ones now I'm used to them. As has been said, they're great for ivy clad trees and I find it gives you a better swivel point to get yours toes against things if you need to on a skinny pole.
