Apparently there is a problem with the diesel filters when they get to a few k miles with a few models. It's the same base as a Sprinter so I'd get one of those instead.

 

Brother in law had a Sprinter and that was water soluble as well, 3 years old and it turned brown round the edges.

Really don't understand how they get away with it in this day and age, these companies really need to pull their fingers out and stop these rusting issues.

Not sure about VW but didn't M-B have a load of recalls and claims about 10 years or so ago on their cars owing to tinworm that made Lancias look solidly engineered by comparison? I think it was when they switched to a lower solvent / solvent free painting technique...

We had a new shape vito on 54 plate when it was 6 years old there was a rust hole in the rear door where the wiper was the size of your fist. I worked out it would not get through another mot without alot of welding underneath and sold it.
