You dont nesscessarily need an ipad with 3g etc to be out an about, chances are you will have a phone so just get a cheaper ipad and tether it to mobile. Myself I wouldn't have an ipad I have a samsung and its just as good, cheaper and not as restricted! I do have both and I pick up the samsung first every time.

They are brilliant for showing your work off. I have a WiFi version not the 3G and I'm happy with it I can get most work done by hopping the WiFi in cafes etc, and it's faster. Mates have the 3G so when they are in the middle of no-where they can use them.

One tip you'll lose it forever once the kids get hold of it!!

Lifeproof cases are the best!

On the 3G if you have an Iphone you can use that as a G3/ wifi connection to get your none G3 iPad on line!

If I try to tether my ipad to my iphone it locks the phone and I get a message from Three telling me I am not allowed to do that unless I pay more money.

When in Oz, I used PAYG and it was fine then.

Point being, yes you can tether to your phone but your service provider may charge you to be able to.

iPad 2 is probably plenty good enough. They are pretty good.
