Does anyone own or know anyone who owns any vimek machines?

I'm afraid not. If your thinking of the little ones they're too big/heavy to go on a Landy trailer making them only moveable on lorries. Charlieh on here has an Alstor similar forwarder to a Vimek but is landy towable.

 

A friend of mine drove some over in Sweden, he went to the factory too. He wasn't overly impressed with them. Or the cost come to that.

You may already know but if you phone the dealer they will put you in contact with the nearest user for a demo. Does open you up to lots of dealer sales calls though.

I know Jim Watt http://www.caledonianforestryservices.co.uk/ has ex demo machines for sale and has had write ups in forestry journal in past best speak to him

There is/was a guy running a Vimek forwarder (the 6 wheel one not the tiny one) somewhere Northern England/Southern Scotland - I think he was called Swailes.

 

From speaking to Caledonian at the APF, he's the guy who's put the most hours on one in the UK and would be the guy to talk to for some decent insight into them.

 

I've always liked the idea of a Vimek forwarder but just couldn't convince myself the figures would work - though sitting in one I really did like the feel of it compared to the draughty Kubota seat

Only seen them on demo nr Penrith. Did hear of issues about king post durability on earlier ones, not sure if they've sorted that. It was that and a couple of opinions of people that drove them on a contract that pushed me down the alpine tractor & trailer route.
