3.0L Trooper and Rodeo 3.0 are different engines. The Trooper lump is indeed a Cat unit but it cost so much money in warranty claims it almost bankrupt Isuzu USA. Yew cud get replacement engines and gear boxes (Free of charge) from Izuzu UK until 2/3 years ago as they simply kept supplying the bits as a 'goodwill gesture' due to the number of 3.0 failures and customer dis-satisfaction. The Troop 3.0L was ahead of it's time and can be a nightmare to own and fix when tings go wrong but if ya get a good one thats been updated, serviced and modded then they are amazing.

I made sure the one I bought had a full service history and all the recalls done. I had more trouble insuring it as every comparison site said there was no such engine and it had to be a 3.1, which is much lower powered. Got it sorted at Adrian Flux in the end as they had it down as a 3.0 from the start.
