Dodgy arm

I've had a problem with pain in my right arm for at least a month now. I thought two weeks off doing nothing over Christmas would heal it but it's still pretty much the same. Does anyone recognise these symptoms.

It hurts generally from my elbow down the top of my forearm. If I do something as simple as reaching for a pan on the stove it hurts. If I apply pressure like I'm pressing something down there's no problem. But if I exert upward pressure I get like a burning pain in the forearm up to the elbow.

Doctor said it didn't seem like tennis elbow symptoms but gave me exercises for that. I've also got an anti-inflammatory cream to apply. Can't take ibuprofen because I'm on other stuff that conflicts with it

Blimey this sounds familiar! No ammount of rest sorts my elbow out either. Ive got 'golfers elbow' and use a sports support if im doing a lot of silky pruning work as this is what aggravates it for me and the support does help. I need it quite tight to make any difference though.

Saw the physio about it on referal from doc and he did ultrasound and lots of aggresive massge to break down scar tissue. This intially helped but pain came back. I now use acupressure and gary craigs EFT tapping technique. The last works the best even though it sounds like a dodgy airy fairy alternative technique. Google it and or watch his videos on youtube. It took the pain from an 8 out of 10 to a 1 out of 10 in about ten minutes! Good luck

One handing, splitting or driving wedges , silky pruning and Slim ropes..one handing especially inflames mine lucky it only just started getting bad before Christmas break with the last two climbs of the year , always keeping a sports support in the van helps as well I have found.

Think I'll go private physio tomorrow and NHS route too. I've had problems with the arm in the past, particularly after a lot of chainsawing on the ground. This time there wasn't anything I could identify that did it. If I make a fist it is painful, as well as when I open my palm. Thanks for replies

I've had similar in each arm in the past, lasted about 18month, did not find rest helped, I did wear a neoprene support, which helped.

Its a good few years since I had it and my arms are both fine now.

That's quite reassuring then cheers. Some things just linger and you just have to get on with it the best you can I guess.
