Hi Normandy - I clean my chains in drain cleaner (orange bottles from the pound shop - sodium hydroxide ) -soak for an hour in an old compost bin I keep for the purpose - - then rinse thoroughly clean, oil and refit.

I have ocd and cant help but clean everything, even tools that really don't need to be kept clean, but cleaning chains has got to be the next level, hopefully I don't get there anytime soon. :laugh1:
