At the end of the day, there is a time and a place for everything.

 

When I tried it, it was recommended to relieve pain. I had a joint and was smashed. Maybe it is like beer, you get used to the effects and have to have more the more you get used to it.

 

IMO though, the impairment is there, you just have a higher tolerance level.

 

There was no way I could have driven.

 

I moved a wagon in a yard as an experiment and found myself over compensating, I was sure that because I was high I couldn't drive correctly and everyone would notice. It must have taken me an age to park the wagon upto a wall and I left a huge gap, which I normally would have taken a second or two and left a couple of inches.

 

You find yourself slowing up too early, braking too early, everything too early.

 

Like you say, if you are professional and have an ounze of common sense, that common sense will prevail

it does make you think people are staring at you!!! fair game tho, i will never smoke again at work and havent for a long time, maybe my attitude is different because i smoke at night but reversing a wagon is a bit of a differnt ball game than driving a car

Ive just spent the last 3 years as a music student, worse, a music production student. Ever smoked weed? nope, ever smoked cigs... a few in my lowest moments pre uni, but nothing to speak of. Drink? less than most.

 

hard when ive said that not to seem like im being high and mighty, and if you think im being that way, then so be it, but I have to agree with Skyhuck, Pecon, Steve, and whoever else. Theres no place at all for it on the job site, but smoking it recreationally is proven to still affect you the next day at work, if not beyond, so why bother?!.

 

The job's dangerous enough guys, why cant we have 100% of our minds on the job 100% of the time?

 

Some of you guys have made reasoned points to the contrary, however I do fail to see that they are valid. Can you not relax without them? chill with loved ones, bit of tele, maybe a movie? couple hours down the pub? I dont really buy the escapism argument, I think it's an excuse pure and simple. Ive had my share of bad times and if i turned to drugs, I personally think two things would have happened, the other side wouldnt have felt so good, and the bad time would have been much extended.

 

Maybe a load of you are going to think that im too green to this job (pardon the pun) to pass comment thus.

 

Personally, I long for the day when I can do a good days work, and relax at the end of it taking pride in what I have achieved.

 

Life is what you make it, and there is a beautiful world out there for us to see, even in our own back yard... if we take the time to see it with the eyes and senses we were given.

Paranoia and over compensation, would be a lethal combination I would say

i see what your saying but..... over compensation when we are talking about safety in a tree work e.g. using multi TIP's, lowering smaller loads etc.. except for taking longer it seems it could be 'safer'

Why are we talking about just weed? I worked with a couple of guys who used to take speed and coke at work. One guy had 2 grams of whizz a day!

I think probably because it's the most common issue. That seems to be the way the topic steered itself anyway. That's bad enough, but speed and coke is even more shocking
