They used the chain technique on mine, best way to combat that was to weld big pad bolts on the inside of the door that opens second, or even weld that door permanent shut if you don't need a big access door

 

I had one door fixed shut, the lock brought the staple and a lump of the jamb it was welded to and tore the top hinge off when it opened, they used a stolen seven and a half tonner.

 

Took me several hours to put it right. They don't care what damage they do as long as they reach their goal.

They used my mates 22 tonner to peel back the roof on his container, all for a bucket full of stone chisels, they were druggies

Sorry to disappoint, but unfortunately plant, including ours, does travel abroad. Though I do concede a certain amount is "recycled" into the workplace here, I do strongly feel that the majority finds outlets abroad. telematics product

Anyway, whichever the end result, the fact remains that we all have to be more switched on, less complacent, to beat the thief.

Admittedly, a lot of recovered stuff is high end motors, mostly within 24 hours of being nicked, re plated and in some cases resprayed. A lot however is plant from all manner of industries.

 

One time and import box was several times over it's stated weight. It was a soft top box from Spain full of onions on the paperwork, but actually contained huge slabs of marble and a ton or so of hash...

Not wanting to turn this into a political debate, but another reason I don't vote Lib, Lab, Con and will vote for almost any alternative party or independent, is because the main three partys are far too soft on crime! I know several coppers, I can't tell you how frustrated they are with the system, the courts are a joke! The entire system is a joke.

You have to get imaginative with your locks.

I've been helping a couple of mates fit internal security features to their workshop doors.

Nothing illegal, they just don't work how you expect them to.

They have also concreted steel beams either side of the doors with a barrier across as an anti ramming feature (my job was digging the holes and mixing the concrete )

It shows how times have changed we could all remember when scrap prices were so low they would block the door of the coal shed with an old gearbox.

How do you think all the big fat gypsy weddings, Xmas, cars, gypsy anything in fact is payed for? They steal for a living. Fact. How some people are naive in thinking "how can they be rich robbing the odd chainsaw?" It's economy of scale, they rob "the odd chainsaw" several times a day and night, all week, every week. Every crime has a victim. In my opinion those who buy stolen equipment might as well have stolen it themselves. They will fence alot of kit out of the country, same places who buy stolen tractors etc.
