Chinese Stihl

Had a phone call yesterday from a local farmer who buys our cord etc for firewood sales.

An Italian guy has turned up in his yard, flash motor etc, offering to sell three brand new Stihl MS 44s for £700 as he's been to exhibition and doesn't want to take them back to Italy.

He asks me if they're a good buy and I rant on about scams, cons Chinese copies etc. As soon as the farmer asks guy if they're Chinese he's off in his car with saws.

Just thought I'd let you know they're about and beware.

We had a similar visit last year - "Dutch" guy in big (but old) rhd BMW with UK plates supposedly rushing to catch the ferry home. He also did not want to take his chainsaws back which was not a surprise looking at the state of them.

I pointed out that the only ferrys that leave from this part of the country went to Ireland and the IoM and so he really had better get a move on. With a markedly different accent and a good dose of classic anglo saxon he drove off into the sunset. :001_tt2:
