between 4&5 foot diameter at base. it has had bleeding canker for a few years and the wind snapped the trunk near the base today.

So 20" ain't gonna halve it, stick with the 15" and cut it into blocks, similar to a #, with a name like Yorkie I assume you're based in Yorkshire, just advertise a play day for saws and I'm sure some on here would blitz it up

I find 15-16" ideal for balance and handling, and personally prefere 16".

13" is out, as the saw becomes rear heavy.

Any longer than 16" becomes a tradeoff of need vs. handling and performance, but a 20" is fine if you really need it.

I went up to 18 on mine from the 15 and yep it cuts a tad slower but it still does the job and I'm happy I did it

No surprice there, but be aware that the chain model that is used may actually have a larger impact on the cutting speed than that differense.

Another issue is that the handling of the saw suffers from the longer bar, specially when limbing and such.....

Yep it does feel a tad different but I like being able to use In tree for longer before swapping to a bigger heavier saw. And I weigh about as much as a 346xp so it's a huge bonus to me to not have a bigger saw on my harness!!

Surprised at that. 13" makes it a fantastic snedding saw. The day I put that size on I had a grin that just about split my face.

13 and 15 are good. Trying the 18 on bigger stems when climbing
