Having confidence in the kit. You will soon realise it works and you gain confidence but do not be complacent and sloppy.

 

You are probably using muscles you wouldnt in normal life too.

These will gain strength and you wont be quite wobbly either (thats if you are now of course)

Keep your knees a bit out, sort of like a very slightly bowlegged cowboy. This keeps the angle of the spike pointed straight into the tree and reduces gaffing out. If your knees point inwards than the spikes are pointing more downward and you'll be more likely to gaff out.
