advice on vehicle

Hello all im looking for my next vehicle and im thinking a 4x4.

something like a LR discovery as I can lock all the doors to keep tools safe.

 

Im not sold on the pickup idea. Unless someone can convince me.

 

So id like your recommended vehicles and the ones too avoid.

My budget is about £1500.

My friends a mechanic and had advised me to go for an old disco as the parts are cheap(ish) and plentiful...old commercial ones seam cheap....

If you or a mate can weld id definitely go for a disco, the main problem with 1 in your budger will probably be rust:thumbup1:

I would go Isuzu trooper/ Vauxhall Monterey at that budget I have been running them for work for a while and they have been brilliant, if the wife liked them I would run one as the family bus instead of a discovery td5, and they can legally tow 3.5 ton.

i would only have a 3.1l one though the 3.0l engine is a load of rubbish i have found to my rather high cost

I've driven a terrano and was worried about the amount of space compared to a disco and how well it would tow compared to a bigger longer discovery.

Is the trooper the same size as a disco. And is that a disco in your picture

I can weld just don't have place to weld or the welder to weld.

Have you used them? How did you get on?

Had a 3 dr for doing foot path strimming so was only carrying a bit of 2 stroke and 2 strimmers but it was nice to drive. I've looked on autotrader and think id personally go for the 5 dr version

a friend of mine ran one for several years towing his digger around , he had no issues at all
