During summer splitting logs for firewood I had a big problem with wasps, they seemed to be attracted to the sap, they especially love willow!

Now it's got colder I don't have the wasp problem while splitting, only that they seem to be hibernating in the log pile and we are bringing them into the house hitching a ride in with the baskets of logs, just had to squish the second one this weekend.

Any one have the same problem??

They do love willow . Felled out a big cracked limb in the summer and they were all over us ! In side the hollow limb was a wasps honey comb . Not regular like a bee one but kinda random looking .

Just finished building new log and kindling store. Been moving timber and logs all weekend and so far had 24 wasps in hibernation. Have to check the logs as I bring them through into the house. Same problem leaving empty bulk bags laid flat outside wasps seem to love them.

My mum gets this problem. An arm full of logs brings in a couple of wasps and you only know they are there when they warm up and start walking across the carpet. Into the fire they go, little buggers

went through a nest with the hedge trimmers this summer, stung loads and it took ages for the stings to go down, not good, but piss funny for the other lads watching me leg it down the road :lol::laugh1:

Willow and fresh euc. I collected some from a yard in the summer and wore gloves, tucked my trousers in my socks and put on a jacket to pick up the rounds. Crawling with them they were.

Got stung chipping some willow a while back.Hand came up like micky mouses glove.Cut down a big dead oak in some grounds by a lake and they were everywhere.Think they must like the scent of cut wood.No nest in the tree but they were all over it.No other issues this year and they should be dead soon.
