hello.

Another post for a farmer friend, He is in the market for one of the above 2 saws and asked my opinion. I have used the 390xp a lot over the years and love it. I have never used the 576xp and so would like you guys feed back.

I am pushing for the 390 as he wants to run it on the bigger bars, mostly 24" and 28" from time to time.

Simply, will the 576 run bigger bars in a productive way, and is it as robust as the 390?

Thanks in advance.

I would side with you . 390 will run a 28" no problem . 576 would be best on 24" or under . Balance is important as well ...

Bigger saw, bigger bar, it's effectively the difference between a 550 and an old 365 in size, much more power, I have a 385, the predecessor, which pulls 28" like a demon, I can't imagine the 576 would be a patch on it

Just an update, I have put my money where my mouth is and purchased a new 390xp on a 28" bar.

Its been a while since I used one and I had that sinking feeling when leaving the dealer of " what have I done?" but my god is it a good saw!

It runs like my ms361 does on a 15", and feels so much more flickable than the ms660, or 460 come to that. somehow it feels lighter too.

I am very pleased with my purchase

No my dear Stuby, tis I!

He was bending my ear saying that if the 390 is so good that i should splash the cash on it, so I did. :blushing:

He is going for a 576 on a 25" when he has sold his existing saw.

I have a fair bit of big timber to cut over the next few months so its not just a snap decision. And I would like to get a mill for it, so it will get some real use.

Looking at the spec sheet that came with it a 28" is the max bar on 3/8 but if you go to .404 you can go to 36"!!!! anyone here tried this?
