Due to its design it works well with most popular diameters of rope, and yeah your going to have to cut off the splice, can your not cut off 4m to have as a spare lanyard?

Yeah just tried it on my 12.6mm 5m lanyard and seems to work well, yeah iv go a 45m honeybee so plenty of the rope to make into two, was thinking a posh dog lead ;-)

I have done 2x 10 m ash reductions and one 6m apple reduction with the zigzag. In the first pic the top bit of rope is below the 20 m mark and represents what my rope looked like before the zz ( I know the spliced end gets more use but it wasn't far off) and the lower bit shows the wear im experiencing. A lot of wear from not a lot of use.

 

Hmm does look similar to the wear I experienced with the mk1, I was hoping the added flare would smooth out the passage of the rope to the pulleys and chain, that's if this is the area that is causing the wear.

Keep and eye on it and keep us posted.

 

As a personal thing I preferred it over a Spiderjack it was intuitive to use and did not place your hands in a stressed position unlike the Spiderjack, also the self tending was spot on as I found the Spiderjack often tended when I did not want it to.

I know what your saying about the sj and agree, everything has its drawbacks the thing that really narks me about the sj is replacing worn bits 6 clutches a body and a brake in 1 yr, expensive! Although the zz may prove expensive if I have to replace a seriously worn rope!

I've got a spider jack as well, had it nearly 2 years now and not had to replace anything yet.

I'm not one for bombing out of trees though, just use it nice and gently.

I run 13mm Gecko....but have just purchased 11.7mm blue tounge due good reports of the zz working well on it

anybody? drew, barry skyland, etc know if you can use the zillon lanyard srt like i do with my pinto/distel. was thinking bout a positioner or cinch too, srt?. opinions please

the distel tends to bind up as mini srt, would the zillon slip slowly? or lock harder?

They are definitely not made for SRT it is just a lanyard adjuster. I would stick with equipment for SRT that are made for SRT mate.
