If your towing a fairly heavy trailer and try to turn gradually by applying more pressure to one track than the other, I found the dominant track tended to spin out a bit. Don't get me wrong, they are more than capable of towing a decent load behind but don't expect it to be quite as smooth and flowing as it would be behind a tractor. A single axle trailer would be considerably better than a double axle mind you.

Another improvement on the trailer towing thing would be to devise some sort of ring and pin hitch with a self supporting leg/jack on the draw bar of the trailer- purely laziness but I'd quite like to be able to hitch and unhitch without having to get out of the cab and faff around with a jockey wheel.

3 tonner will easily lift half a ton of logs- I picked up a full dumpy bag 850kg of gravel with mine today and it didn't seem to struggle.

Reference towing a trailer- on the back of this thread I bolted a tow ball to the dozer blade last week. I have been towing an I for flatbed with a bundle of fencing stakes accross fields no problem, turning whilst towing isn't great so its best to travel in a series of straight lines, turn on the spot then head off on the new line.

I have this idea of towing an I for 8x5 tipper which I could load with soil/stones/timber and then use the auxiliary hydraulics on the digger arm to tip it. Needs a bit of thinking over but could be a handy setup for some jobs.

 

If you want to tow your 8x5 Ifor tipper which I assume has no electric tip, then simply tap into the blade supply to have full control over tipping from the comfort of your seat.

 

I fully agree on how the trailer will hinder turning, with perhaps a single axle trailer on larger diameter floaty tyres being ideal, but again something else to get to site.

Yes that's a great idea tapping into the blade supply to tip, would save connecting a hose to the dipper every time I want to tip:laugh1:

The trouble with all these projects is how practical they really end up being, I'm sure a tipping trailer behind a digger would be fantastic for certain odd jobs, but I can't think it could ever stack up against just having a dumper on site if there was much to be done.
