How did it get on with the gaps at the back?

 

I did ask the same question Stephen ,the operator who had developed the thing with the fitters had them cut the back out because the machine could not pick up or drag the bucket through the soil without the windows. Driver reckons as is its perfect.

I think a hydraulic thumb would be excellent!

If you only buy one bit of kit for your excavator buy a hydraulic thumb. Got mine from RSL engineering, cheap and a great bit of kit that save hours and hours of work. If I had my time again I would opt for a wider thumb

There are thumbs on pretty much anything excavator wise when you go to the states or Canada, but they prefer the progressive link type which we never see, but are available over here from the likes of Geith.

 

Hard to find something to explain the difference, but I came across this video and I think it should convey what I'm getting at?

The basics are they fold up better and give a much wider working range for very little extra.

A great example of why listening to someone that knows a great deal more than you before splashing out on kit pays dividends. This would have been so much better than the thumb I purchased
