i drive an 09 and its great... 35mpg, will do 80 or 90 steady as a rock and will tow 3t with ease.....

Yeah it was the mpg that did it for me , the others were awfull, plus easier engines to maintain ? im not going to be towing all that much , im just small scale fuel merchant so load capacity was brilliant for me.

For towing I use my defenders, as Daniel says, Rangers of a certain few year builds were too high geared, I try not to use my Ranger for towing I just find it too much like hard work especially on slopes, once rolling they are nice tow motors but good luck getting it rolling.

I've been running an 07 plate Thunder Supercab coming up on 2 years now. Love it to bits.

Engine rebuild last year because of previous shoddy work. Pulls 3 tons happily, although I do that in 4-Hi. Reverse that load in 4-Lo. The gearing is a bit too high in reverse in 2 wheel and your clutch will stink reversing any significant load, hence the 4lo comment. Believe they changed the gearing after 09.

Love the ground clearance on it and it's off-road a lot. Going to swap the road tyres for decent AT ones soon.

Keep an eye on the driveshaft boots. Knocking noise when turning in 4x4 means the boot may have split and the grease has gone.

Best of luck with yours mate.

Hi all , Just bought myself a new pick up, deliberated long and hard over what to get L200, Navara, Izuzu, Hilux so on so on. It had to be multi purposeful vehical. Milage and fuel economy was a major issue with all of them. Scanned the internet for 3 days Ebay, Autotrader bloody nightmare. As it happens my misses goes shopping 5 miles down the road and low and behold theres a truck Ford Ranger 50000 miles got it for £9000 bargain. And i love it .just goes to show internet aint be all and end all.

Bought my 07 Super Cab in June 2011 with 27000 miles on the clock. Now has nearly 64000 and apart from servicing and reversing in to a lamp post, it has only needed a UJ on the propshaft and it is starting to go through bulbs!! Averages 30 odd to the gallon, cruises on the motorway great, opening super cab doors gives great access to good storage space behind the seats, carries a good load. As others have said, seats are fairly comfortable but I do have back ache after driving for an hour; would have my old Freelander seats in there in a flash if I could; and reversing in two wheel drive is frightenly fast!
