I have run the t540 a few times since purchase and noticed the chain runs quite slack is this by design or have I missed something?

Depending where you're coming from its either normal or not normal. When you come from any brand of chainsaw using Oregon chains it's normal.

When you come from Stihl saws using Stihl branded chains this seems abnormal.

Oregon (or for that matter any brand other than Stihl) needs more re tensioning.

Stihl is the better brand when it comes to saw chains.

This is good info.. I use Oregon on my other saws (all husky) an I have noticed this but as soon as the bank balance allows this year it'll be a Stihl full chisel chain for the 540. Thanks
