O heard there was a oak tree hit the back of a house in Sudbury thought it may have been that one.

Nope. Did a big Ash tree on a roof in Gt Cornard though

Never tried it to be fair but always thought it was crap fire wood ?

 

Rubbish timber for milling so I've been lead to believe.

I have had 2 come down:thumbdown: has any one tried milling one and if so what uses has the wood? I've heard it's good in wet ground and under water eg board walks etc

I could be wrong but done a bit of research into turkey oak uses a couple of years ago after I had a monster one to clear up, which seamed such a shame to just ring up, If you can actually season without it splitting all over the place it then I have seen some pics of really nice tables made with it, but thats a big if.

I personaly thought it made excellent firewood, so did some people who I gave it to try however it rots really quickly, I have some here from nearly 2 years ago that we have been splitting this week and it is already rotting.

I read somewhere but can't find it now where a miller said it used to be called "beer barrell wood"
