Was told by my dealer and a few outhers not to use the red oil but use the better green synthetic stuff, Huskvarna xp oil is better still or aspen for best performance.

DO NOT use cheep Tesco fuel as to much ethanol in it. The good brand hi octain fuel is better according to husky for these hi revving saws.

Agreed !

For even more go send it to petemate on here for a tweeking / muffler mod . 18" bar on a 7 pin standard or 15" bar using an 8 pin sprocket .

Is this recommending a mod to add an 18"? It comes standard with a 15 I've had mine for 6 months now and I'm thinking of upsizing, recommendations?

You can run an 18" as standard no problems . Would use the standard 7 pin sprocket though . I found if I tried an 8 pin the A/T got all confused . 8 pin is ok on a 15" , on mine at least . Sending it to petmate is not a requirement to run an 18" bar ! Having said that since mine has been modded there have been no starting problems or any problems of any kind to be honest .

Find a log as big as your guide bar and burry it flat out for 3-4 mins is how I set auto tune ... Also keep the chain sharp if you blunt it don't carry on using it ... The saw remembers how it's cutting and will go like a dog if you set the auto tune on a blunt chain...I think this is why they are not good saws for unexperienced operators.... Get a refuel before it goes dry, the auto tune will also set it self up for a running lean mix and can be a pita to start on a fresh tank... The sight glass on the rear of the tank if you can see the fuel on that line means it half empty not full! if you can see it under half way on the clear plastic it's probably a good time to refuel if you get the chance.

Mark makes a good point on husky bolts ,my 338,357,560,540 and 395 have been good but my 372 and an old 288 fell to bits when you looked at them and should of been checked more often whilst running in some of the bolts holes are now too slack or worn.check stuff like the side covers ,felling spikes and exhaust bolts ect for looseness when refueling over the first 4-5 tanks.. If they keep coming loose try loctite.

Enjoy the saw its a belter!

The standard setup with a 15" bar and .325x7 is a joke - the saw will take much more! At least change the rim to a .325x8 - or just ditch .325, and change to 3/8" - and it will take much more than a 15" bar with that setup! :001_smile:

What's the deal with not running out of fuel on AutoTune saws? It happens to me all the time on my 576XP - which doesn't have the fuel gauge. I just fuel up again, pop in the decomp, pull and carry on. The saw goes like a train, starts beautifully, no worries.

If I had to keep stopping to put half a tank in it would be a right pain!
